just watched a vid on the downfall of vertical farms, spoiler alert its because they only grew leafy greens and they cost $5 per head to make in a vert farm vs $1.5 per including logistics on a traditional farm.

but just a thought experiment, couldn't the vert farms work better if they instead grew saffron, which costs $22 per gram at the store? one article I read reported $100k gross per acre while lettuce only $11k. but saffron takes skilled labor to pick out the stamens, they're tiny and inside the flower. But if you could build a specialized robot that uses AI just to locate and pick out the stamen, you could easily keep costs under the $100K per acre ceiling.

but I guess if it was easy to do, the price of saffron would collapse by now. and if its hard to do, you run the risk of someone stealing your methods and running the same operations with less revenue but same output.

if I could do all this in semi-secret, only sell enough saffron to stay in the green, no one would notice you and it'd eventually turn into a money printing machine. need to move to eastern europe to one of the more lawless countries. I got another business idea I could try there where I get industrial printers and make very very good counterfeit MTG cards, I could try both at once, they'd each only cost 150k to start up maybe.

thx for reading my blog, no one at work cares about stocks or money making ideas beyond sportsbetting and scratchers, and all my friends are busy dads who can never hang out.
