the point of silver and gold isn't to fucking minmax the profit you can make buying and selling; it's not an investment, it's a store of wealth.
gold-backed money isn't used so you can trade for an imaginary spot value (the publicized, agreed-upon barder rate from gold to fiat)
it's used so inflation isn't a thing; it's worth using because it is valuable; because it can't just be printed. it has to be mined and processed and is worth enslaving races over

the premium is something like 20-50% above its agreed-upon value, depending on where you purchase and how many
for such a small gold fractional that is not a bad rate; however if you don't like, don't buy
but eventually as usage increases and manufacturing becomes more efficient, premiums should decrease substantially

Yeah, Ruggle's mine in Grafton, NH is great. There's still a bunch of mica since that's what they were mining; I've got some nice large quartz from there. Apparently theres some good Uranite and Beryls.
PANMAN it has been a public mine where you can take home what you find, although they've been closed for the past few years because the lady who was running it is too old. Apparently some guys from an "entertainment" company bought it last year but there have been no updates. As soon as it is open again I HAVE to go there

sounds like it'd be amazing

well at ~$3 value for 1 GB, the premium is only like 20-50%
1GB != $1.7
1GB = $1.1 + (spot / 1000) * 1.155
