She begged to move to san francisco, because some of her friends are there. I told her how awful it would be, I at least asked that we lived somewhere in the bay outside of SF.
Despite us making good money, all we could afford was a cramped 600 square foot 1 bedroom in a shitty neighborhood. It was $2600/mo. The barber I frequented had a shooting a few months before we moved there where multiple people died. She hated being in our neighborhood and often didn't leave the apartment for a week at a time because she can work remote if she wants.

She loves portland, she was just being stubborn and said it wasn't fair that we lived where I grew up - even though she was fine with me uprooting my life to move where she had friends and family, and I had none.
SF is a shithole and she realizes that now and also realizes she was pulling a massive double standard. I just didn't put my foot down when I should have and as a result of that we were both miserable for the year we lived there.

Girls often don't know what they want and need the man to make decisions. It isn't sexist to say that. They're just more emotionally driven creatures than we are.
