Im currently working in the transport industry driving trucks and I am week off hitting my 6 month mark to get off probation meaning they'll keep me or fire me. For the last 2 months the boys are work have been jumping up and down to recruit people to join the union including myself. Their reason is they want to screw the subcontract company over so that the actual mother company will take them back with an EBA (even though they subby'd out to make it cheaper)

These guys have tried to get me fired after the first 6 weeks then management realised they were just being princesses they put me back on. The manager who is friends with these people have advised me to know join but they have been causing a ruckus at work and want to stuff the place over yet he will ignore me and treat them like brothers.

When they realised my protentional they started to respect me but i still dont trust them and feel joining the union will get me stitched up. I feel there are many benefits form joining and im on the verge of just joining just for myself.

Has anyone joined and had benefits? Why should I join?
