We can't tell you want goals to want. Trying to infer what goals you should have by what is 'normally done' is also a bad idea, though a natural groupish human instinct.
One point you may not have fully considered though is: women have strong instincts towards status of their partners. To 99% of women, quitting your high paying job is the equivalent of a hot 18year old girl aging 20 years, gaining 50kgs, shaving her head and tatting up while converting to feminism. I have experience this: I lost a virgin qt tradwife by taking a break from my safe boring job to work on my own projects.
Unless you can convince yourself that you would set aside your own mating instincts, and would still love your wife if she was a wrinkled old bloated faminazi, you might was to consider how to mitigate the impact of taking a well deserved break from your job on your wife's hard-wired non-negotiable status and safety instincts.
