The exchange reached out and asked if it was allowed to list XRP (which it wouldn't be allowed to do if it were a security). the case is as good as finished, literally the only purpose it is serving currently is to act as a filter to keep normies out and to give XRP holders blueballs.

I think you draw attention to an important distinction. That's always been Chris Larsen's whole thing- rather than "disruption" Ripple operates on a philosophy of "construction" by working with existing entities. It makes XRP less attractive to libertarian cypherpunks but ironically will end up changing the world a lot more as a result of its willingness to go with the flow. Maybe there's a philosophical lesson there.
