this is midwit tier advice. people with pay-cheques continue to buy the market, and thus will average down in a downturn. the market is a derivative of the economy, and the economy is designed to grow. thus as earnings/profits grow, index ETFs and the broad market will grow too. the japanese housing bubble is a ridiculous copout answer from people with surface level financial literacy. the nikkei went up 600% in 10 years. the 2000 dotcom bubble did not grow that large. the covid asset bubble did not go to such extremes. in addition, large swathes of the japanese stock market did go up, as the nikkei is a price weighted average so its pricing has always been wonky.
