Now that ETH has the spotlight, it's time for a redpill on ETH, rollups, L2 and the constant FUD against it. The FUD is coming from people with bets on L1 protocols that made themselves made bets on fat protocols (bake in tons of features that they then have to support forever even if they become outdated), competing with ETH that is going in different, simpler, and more versatile direction.

TLDR: The blockchain is used for making conensus on data ordering and guaranteeing data availability only, this is what a blockchain is good at and useful for. The rest is built however people want to build it, and multiple "networks" will all live on ETH. That means multiple virtual machines (ada shills always talking about multiple programming languages btfo), different L2s with different tradeoffs (pick what is important for your project, and optimize for that, rather than rely on an L1 that dictates the rules), incremental decentralization (does cryptokitties need the same security as multibillion dollar transactions?). Now is the time to DYOR.
