I've been reading as much as I can about the Department of Commerce's report on retail numbers this afternoon and something seems fucky. It doesn't jive with the earnings several retail heavy companies have posted for Q4 2018. With this kind of alleged pullback I would have expected to see at least a few of the big retail stocks miss earnings by a significant percentage. There was no forecast from any independent analyst, even the perma-bear ones, for retail miss of this magnitude.
