zk-SNARKs are still novel privacy techniques which are currently less understood, are still experimental, and may have undiscovered flaws. It's simply too early for certainty.
For example, Monero uses well established cryptography with significant academic review.

I don't need to know your every transaction history or what you own because you exchanged with me bitcoin or any open ledger, and vice-versa. Monero makes you your own bank, free from surveillance and censorship. It has every property of sound money.
