any argument that is about
>if you had just went completely 100% all in at this one exact inopportune moment in time
is just as ridiculous as the corresponding bullish arguments, about what would happen if you had bought bitcoin or some stock at the exact lowest point and sold at the exact highest point.
people make these arguments because they're easier to make than taking into account any sort of complexity.
But the fact of the matter is, if you had bought stocks with your spare income throughout the 20's and 30's, you would have been fine. It doesn't matter how poorly someone would have done if they went in 100% on the absolute peak and never bought stocks again, because no one is, or should ever be, doing that in the real world. It's a phony argument.

you said
>by calls
by which I assume you meant "buy calls"
that implies timing
If the market goes down and then crabs sideways your calls are fucked
Options buys ALWAYS puts you at the mercy of old man time
of course things go up in the long term. that's why you buy SHARES. real, true equity. a claim on REAL productivity and future cash flows.
If you buy calls, you don't have anything REAL in your hand. you have a contract, a mathematical abstraction. it gets more valuable ONLY if the underlying goes in the proper direction and magnitude in the proper time interval.

I've only been an /smg/ lurker/poster in 2019. so I'm familiar with all the current kids but not with the history. Jealous of everyone who lives near the Rockies/Tetons, even if I have more money

Jack D was born in STL and went to UM-Rolla (now MST) just like me. So it would be fun to meet him. But I haven't bought any of his stock yet (except through funds).
their market cap is like 20x revenues (not earnings, which are negative: 20x revenues)
So I dunno about buying SQ over other stock. they might still be overvalued. You have to find a way to double their revenues AND decrease their costs of revenues at the same time just to get to their current valuation. I need to try and find out what they're spending $1B a quarter on....

is Jawad supposed to sound like 'Jared' but retarded or should he be called 'Ja Wad'

I wasn't expecting the meme status of UBER, LYFT, and TSLA to be revealed as suddenly and violently as it has been this past month

>Commodity plays?
I went long on food commdity prices already a couple weeks ago, so far so good. I also went long oil, which hasn't bottomed out yet, so I'm holding off on more of that. I think there is a possibility for some oil pumps with Iranian uncertainty, but it's a dangerous game. The danger does give some interesting risk/reward though if you watch it closely

Defensive is oversold companies, strong earners, safe and diversified overseas exposure (not US, Europe, or China), some bonds, gold, and cash. wait for Jerome to give the signal before doing anything rash.
