If you have a multimeter you should at least be able to test the cable for continuity if or until you can get a new one. Unless you did already. At least you'd know right away if the cable itself was bad. I'd say check any pin connectors both cable and machine itself for corrosion or mouse damage as well, but you probably did that too. It definitely sounds like based on the coin changer plug not being correct that someone who didn't know what they were doing was fooling with the internals. I hope you get it fixed.

I once sneakily slid a quarter into a woman's vagina and she didn't notice until it fell out when she was in the shower flicking the old bean.
