It'll be backed by Gold, at least nominally, but you won't be able to redeem (much like the Gold standard the US was on from 1933-1971), you'll have a limited time to use it and Gold will be so expensive that you won't be able to buy any with what you can save up before your money expires. If we ever get Gold backing our money again (at least with our current elite), the system will be so deviously designed, that you'll be wishing you could go back to fiat.
