Will COVID-19 lead to hyperinflation, /biz/?

Surprisingly hard to find any information on this - although it seems likely to me. The economy will probably grind to a halt over the next few months, and the US government will have to engage in unprecedented deficit spending as consumers find themselves unable to make payments on loans or afford basic necessities.

I’m unsure whether the US government will be able able to meet this fiscal obligation without resorting to printing new money. The FED has already pumped $1.5 trillion in cash into the markets, and the Yuan has already undergone 5% inflation in the past few months.

Wondering what other people think. I’m considering investing in precious metals taking out loans to purchase assets. It seems plausible that the US could head down the same path as Venezuela in the coming months.

This is exactly the kind of content we need to have on /biz/
