Because a lot of them don't get a choice. It's chosen for them. Even target date funds will invest heavily in bonds because its SUPPOSED to be safe. Its just that the recent financial policy of the central banks is weimar levels of retarded

Of course they could have avoided this by buying a global mix of bonds but again this is europe we're talking about. They have it all regulated and aren't allowed to chose HOW to invest their money since its a pension.
