I just don't forsee Mad Max happening outside some major natural cataclysm, like Yellowstone, Tunguska, or a Carrington event. In which case I ought to be honest with myself and you: most of the people posting here will simply be too dead to care. Either the air and water will be poisoned or you're dead in the initial onslaught. It's better to be an ounce more optimistic about the future. Stack because you want to have a nice life, not because you want to survive in some permanent Doomworld.

Society is a natural thing that exists a priori government institutions. Institutional collapse doesn't equal societal collapse because our institutions aren't society. Money is made up. When the money fails, society makes up new money. When government collapses, society makes up new government. If you look back over the course of human history, you'd have to go back to the Paleolithic era to find a "Mad Max" style place, and even then we had tribes. Hell, even African shitholes are more orderly than you've probably been led to believe.
