Uranium ore is not a threat to health unless you grind it up and snort it. Picrel is a collection of ceramics with uranium glaze. They send a geiger counter through the roof. But only at close range because of the inverse square law. Understand the inverse square law and the fact that with radiation the poison is in the dose and you will understand why uranium ore is not a hazard.

These ceramics have uranium glaze. They will send a Geiger counter into orbit. But remember that with radiation, as with toxic chemicals, the poison is in the dose. And the dose you will get from being around natural uranium is very small, the inverse square law being what it is. I would not want to inhale very much uranium dust. Other than that, no worries from radiation. More worries from chemical heavy metal toxicity.
