what genre movies do you like?
I personally really love cyberpunk and dystopian settings, think anime like ghost in the shell and psycho pass.

If you are a weeb start with manga, read manga. After you read a cyberpunk manga ( if thats your preffered genre) and feel comfy try and read a cyberpunk book, slowly read page by page and when the writer describes a scene close the book , close your eyes and really envision yourself being there. Good writers describe their scenes extremely well, with things like

"When he exited the vehicle he was disdain by the awful smell the smog of the city brought with it, but as soon as he saw the massive billboards and skycrapers that feeling soon vanished, only to be reintroduced by his cab driver when he opened his mouth and said to him
"shut the fuck up faggot" "

or something like that.
