Seems like that’s the true nature of any great society. When the positions of power mean you have to weigh decisions like “how many will we feed and how many will we send to die by senselessly attacking the enemy stronghold” I think those are positions that lend themselves to people who are self-interested and hostile towards humanity.

But I don’t think you’re all correct about the powers that be conspiring to bring society crashing down. This is closer to an exit scam on the USD, and it’s more like the writings on the wall there. And I expect it to take place over decades, not months.
