Russia wants to considerably increase the size of their army and further mobilise.
However they have lost a large amount of their equipment in the war so far.
A large number of their tanks, IFVs, APCS and logistics equipment.

Their own industrial capability is not enough to replace this, not under sanctions.
IMO they will turn to China for equipment (likely offering them future mineral rights in Russia's east) and then when that happens the US will critically sanction China.
This could then escalate directly into a Taiwan crisis.
