I currently live on the east coast US but I was stationed in San Diego for two years in the Navy, and I have travelled throughout Europe many time, including Stockholm. Here's my take for what its worth:
Weather is a bigger plus in San Diego...its literally rated best weather in the world by many organizations, but it really doesn't have four seasons like Stockholm does.
People: Stockholm really had a lot more 'brown' in it than I thought but San Diego is really really brown lol. But both places the people were friendly, and your choices for girls were good in both places.
Business: This is up to you...Stockholm is a capital and has better access to more regional markets and Europe is a big market...huge plus for Stockholm. San Diego is just an ok town in that respect, nothing special.
Food. European food is better, can't really dispute that.

All in all it depends on what your business interests are..good luck.

In 2008 I got laid off on my job I interned at since graduating 4 years earlier...I literally thought I'd be there til I retired(design/ind eng).
I said 'no problem and made a stellar resume and applied,....and applied, and applied...and applied...literally over 500 companies and I DIDN'T EVEN GET A CALL BACK FROM FUCKING ONE OF THEM. The market was just too shitty I guess and I was a white male (literally my last name is Black). One day I looked on craigslist and I say a job ad needing and engineer to design large and oversized/handicapped compliant toilets. I didnt even send them my resume, I simply sent them an email saying 'I could do this job and i'll start Monday with my resume in hand' and the guy emailed me back and I've been there for ten years last month. Best fucking job I could ask for...good work travel (its like a paid vacation), incredible bonus and pay and no shortage of business.

You're 25 years old with 1 million cash.
You can invest 900k in stock funds and get 5% dividends annually...thats 45k per year or $3800/mo. and you retain your capital. This is very doable.
Purchase a nice 300k home here in US. 100k of your million is down payment down, 10 year mortgage, payment 2100/mo. Auto, ins, food, etc are easily within your remaining 1700/mo.

People like OP don't live in the real world after what you constantly read online. You think all houses are 2M for a shack near Google HQ or similar delusion. You don't need a Lambo,...a gently used Nissan or Toyota will work just fine. at 1/40th the cost.

Stop deluding yourself and FIND SOLUTIONS THAT MAKE IT WORK.
