It's so insanely obscure a process to actually own the shares of a company you're invested in that simply discovering that process and going through it would be enough to turn anyone away from the markets for good - unless they were sufficiently wealthy or getting stock working for a company, where their experience in business and finance would've already told them long ago that the markets are a casino and have been since the late 60's at minimum (and you could make a strong argument it really started getting retarded in the mid to late 40's). Nobody was ever meant to actually own anything in the markets unless they were big enough or wealthy and learned enough to drill down this far. Nobody was ever supposed to find the one string they could pull to bring the whole shell game to a close, unless they had a direct incentive not to pull it.
