I remember in one of the episodes, one of the pieces of technology in the chain was the touchstone. What ancient civilizations used to test gold and silver to ensure its purity

Doesn't work when institutional future contract deliveries are at historic highs and the average joe is now buying up physical too

Demanding physical silver breaks the system. This is a multi-trillion market, well over $10trn if you count gold too. GME is nothing compared to this

Well obviously simplest is just to buy physical silver from a local or online dealer.

If you're a more sophisticated investor and can into futures contracts, then you take a long and demand delivery of the underlying physical silver. That is the entire point of the futures contract after all, it's a contractual agreement to physically deliver the silver at a future date. Same thing with oil futures, lumber, etc.

Of course many speculators go into futures not actually wanting to take delivery, but instead just wanting to sell the contract later (before expiration) at a higher price to someone else. This can backfire though as we saw the front-month oil futures contract go to NEGATIVE $40 last year. Because there was no demand for oil and storage in Cushing and elsewhere was full anyway, nobody actually wanted to take delivery, so there was no end-user to actually sell contracts to at the end of the month. Too much supply and no demand.

The same thing will happen to silver in reverse. Too much demand and no supply. More and more longs will request physical delivery, and the shorts will be forced to go into the market and buy the actual silver in order to make good on their contracts.

But because the precious metals markets are so poisoned with rehypothecated derivatives, it'll only happen if people BUY PHYSICAL
