Can somebody explain why we need more powerful computer chips and why nvidia is bought up so much by tech bros? I'm talking about actual tech people here not the speculation side. I can't process the greater business strategy why tesla or meta is building so many data centers around nvidia chips. I'm not sure if I'm out of touch here, to me it feels like AI is to software what the internet was to whitepages books but worse and not a real innovation. It's a "new" technology that just makes the former technology worse in this case, whereas with internet you had a portable whitepages with something like craigslist or a search engine that is clearly a much bigger innovation. I don't get why AI is supposed to be bigger then crypto for example when we had a working 1:1 digital version of paper currency with bitcoin in its first 4 years and then 5 years after bitcoin released we had the perfected version with monero. Meanwhile "moden" AI has been in the works since the mid 2000s and there's nothing to it other then we just got slightly enough compute power to automate a google search. I think the "AI" industry is extremely overvalued many times over compared to biotech and 3d printing for 21st century tech. Its not improving any processes or creating a societal change that important for its valuations.

>Bro. BTC is a huge risk with that sort of money. Put it in an S&P 500 and make safe guaranteed gains. You will make a comfy 10% a year and dont need to ride the crypto rollercoaster.
