Can anyone explain what's on with this upcoming conference. Since the announcment it dropped hard, but now it rises like never before. I heard they try to test the block-chain on well known names like Satander and UniCredit!

I've been observing cryptocurrency for about a year now. Heard lots of talk around these parts about bitcoin (of course), dogecoin, peercoin, litecoin, even shittier ones like fedoracoin and kittehcoin.......haven't heard a lot about ripple, though.

I've heard a few negative comments about ripple (i.e. premine), yet I've noticed it's been lingering around the #2 spot on coinmarketcap for a while now. Can someone explain to a noobish lad like me why ripple isn't a good thing to invest in? And why it's remained in that spot?

I'd like to buy and hold 1,000 long-term, in hopes that the value will eventually increase.....is this foolish, and if so, why? Any reasons why it can't rise in value like the other altcoins?
