Unfortunately SCHD only goes back to 2012 but even during the incessant bull run it's keeping up fairly well, during stagnation and a downturn I think SCHD is going to beat SPY over the next 10 or so years. Dividend ETFs also have the benefit of providing cash flow without having to sell any of your assets.
