Good luck buying massive amounts of anything without the state knowing it. They can confiscate your gold by force, if the state wants my bitcoin they have to actually torture me for my keys. And unlike gold or silver it is easy to 'smuggle' bitcoin overseas to safer jurisdictions since the bitcoin is on a decentralized, global blockchain rather then on my person.
