It was a hallmark from the semi-independant town of Perpignan, who was reintegrated to the kingdom of France a century earlier after being under Spain's dominion. Their goldsmiths and silversmiths were granted a special tax privilege in regarding the Fermiers Generaux (tax collectors), but who didn't last long, as the revolution happened soon after.
So this town had it's own hallmark, a rat, from 1784 to 1789.
No need to tell you a single town and just for 5 years, 250 years ago, there aren't many silver pieces left with this hallmark.

My hope is i can sell it for a premium to the right collector. Finding the good buyer might be a harduous task tho..
