There are efficient ways to pray. Prayer requires belief in God, Allah, or Creator belief in the worthiness of oneself, and a specific request to God for providing protection or healing for oneself, your loved ones or your enemies. Regarding if the voice you hear is God, you don't need to hear God's voice to benefit from prayer. If you hear a random voice and you didn't ask a question directed specifically at God then it's most likely you are hearing demons or other dark entities.
