Fucking ouch. My mum was kind enough to start my new gold hobby/interest in stacking, even though all she could afford was a 1g teeny tiny bar. But Royal Mint website sells way over spot. Something like £52 for the 1g, when spot was £41 or something.

How can you buy safely and know what you are getting is legit without paying a 5th on top over spot because you wanted that safety?

I get that it's not an investment so much as a way to keep my finances safe and at hand, but fuck, I'm not particularly well off and extra on top is a heavy bite out of my savings.

So, I need educating /biz/. I want to start being more financially responsible and build a future for myself, as right now I have practically nothing. I'm not aiming to get rich, just comfortable, perhaps in my own home as the end goal. The catch is I'm unwell to the point of being housebound and have been most of my life, and it's unlikely to change according to my doctor.

So, my 'plan' is to first put what little money I can put aside into gold, so it at least holds its value and can provide a safety net if I ever got into dire straights. Is there anywhere I can learn the basics of buying and selling, and the theory beyond 'Ug. Gold hold value'?

I'll likely also start with shares and such, as I have been told by a family member they will be giving me several thousand to do as I want with. But I'll deal with that later.

I'm new to Robinhood and investing in general. Is buying gold a worthwhile investment? And how do I purchase it on Robinhood?

I'm in Europe and have some cash I'd like to keep out of the bank.

What's the surest long-term storage medium, gold coins or something?

Not for SHTF by the way.

I need to hide $25,000 in cash right now

What is the best way to hide it? Should I buy gold coins and bury them in the garden?

Well yes. One one hand there is brokering out deals that are too risky to invest yourself in while still getting paid 7-20% commission, and on the other is participating in deals with merchant you maintain a good relationship with and are credit worthy through syndication.
