Getting a loan now has far more restrictions. Bush had relaxed rules to make it easier for the 'underserved' to get loans, and they did what you'd expect - default. Bankers were paid commissions to sell loans and they gave fuck -all to the collateral. Banks would have been gone out of business but you probably never heard the term, "too big to fail" so they were bailed out.
Just because you have no idea what went on and what rules were put into place before you were born doesn't mean nothing has changed.
