doesn't work with the gov't because its Base + 4 option years. so the 4 option years are not secured and the gov't has no obligation to renew. thats why you have to do a YoY uptick that matches the inflation rate or you will be losing purchasing power over time in real terms

normally its not a big deal because inflation is like 2-3% but right now we got 9.1% on the PCI and 6.3% on the PCE and you have to ask yourself how long will that persist. its not going to just drop back down to 2% over night

i doubt that. paying for basic macro research is more about saving time so you can spend more time trading. research analysts are the ones that do the bitch work for you that would otherwise take up hours of your time gathering the data yourself. its just about convenience
