Now I’ve thought about temperature A LOT recently and have come to the conclusion that, due to copper content, I need to have the molten sterling hot enough to stay molten as it descends into the mold but too hot as to expand the investment upon contact. The investment is supposed to be durable enough to take 22k gold, and since gold has a higher melt temp than copper I feel confident that the temperature differential shouldn’t be too impactful, but I’ve learned that hedging your bets in this process is a good rule of thumb and 1100 C is probably where I need to be.
