I mean it depends what's happening in my life and how many good opportunities there are in the stockmarket at the time. It's going to be able your personal circumstances more than anything else

I try to keep around £4000 as cash on hand, that is because my broker pays 3% interest on up to £4000 of cash in my portfolio, so I use that as a guide. It kind of also depends how big your portfolio is

Maybe 5 -10% of your portfolio as cash, as a very rough rule of thumb? This is purely cash for the purpose of spending in the market, NOT including your emergency cash savings, which IMO should be separate from your broker
