That is complete fucking bullshit. Companies can't just "cancel their sub" and pivot to another technology whenever the fuck they want. They're often stuck with the same platforms/software for decades because they literally can't get rid of it or their entire business collapses.

Theoretically their main job is to shield the developers from other people bothering them about planning, or questions like "when will X be done" or "can you quickly do Y".

In practice they are a sack of potatoes asking basic questions at the daily status update meeting which lasts like 10 minute tops. I assume the rest of the day they watch tv shows and maybe respond to an email or two asking for team updates.
