When big news hit, you usually get hordes of normies fomo-ing. They obliterate sell walls and it's harder for market makers to control the price when there's a huge volume involved. They will probably try to arbitrage the shit out of it, but keep in mind that they also need to have volume/liquidity in the futures market. Usually the volume in the spot market dwarfs the futures, hence they don't have such a dampening effect on the price.
I don't know, maybe I'm underestimating these whales and their bots. Maybe crabbing forever is what will actually happen kek.
