Technology is not some kind of historical anomaly, but it is unprecedented progress in the past century, incapable of being processed by man. Society stability has been left in the dust for an exponentially evolving chaotic bastardized version of "societal progress". Either some kind of reactionary movement pops up to try and chase stability via conflict, or it will be mandatorily provided by our new chinese overlords come a few decades. Not much you can do about it other than to improve yourself so you are either (A) prepared the best you can be for the chance of a bad future, or (B) ahead of the curve if the future is good.
