Yes. Generally, gov't-issued coins are at their least expensive while they're still being minted. Once they stop minting and retailers can no longer replenish, the price jumps and typically never looks back. Not always, but it's incentive enough for me to buy new coins almost exclusively now (I have a generic bar stack already - don't need more, but some generics are just too pretty).
