Just got called today, a competitor is offering me a job that. They're offering salary plus commission that results in roughly a 50% pay raise. I'll be getting paid vacation, sick days, health, dental, and vision. Not only were there personal references who told them to contact me, but a handful of clients over the years who got tired of our offices, bosses, and other employees shit told them to contact me. I think I'm finally making it.

Depends on where you live I'm basing this on a cheaper urban area in commiefornia.
In a flyover it would be cheaper.
Somewhere like downtown LA or mission in SF would be closer to 3-5k/mo for your own room depending on the neighborhood.
While in a more rural area you might be able to get a room for closer to 500/mo.
Those "Pod" style housing things sprung up out of necessity rather than because people actually wanted to live like slaves on a plantation.
