Nobody would use a 15 kg coin-bar for daily transactions though, so it's kind of moot. The mass alone just isn't practical no matter what the shape of the coin. I have some 5 kg Noah's Ark coins that are actually round, just like the 1 oz ones. Can't really carry those in my pocket, though.
But at smaller sizes it just doesn't matter what the shape is. Even the Perth Mint 1 oz rectangular dragons could function just as any other coin.
