You dont 'try' religion. Following Christ is a lifetime decision and you have to look at things in the light of eternity as this life is fleeting and all the passions of it. God, on the other hand, is eternal.

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." (Revelation 3:20)

Seek Jesus, get into his Word and give your life to him because he is the giver of it and you are his creation, made in the likeness of his image.

Sin is the god of this world, world that is increasingly opposing God and his order of creation, we may have the comforts of technology, but our souls are being put in spiritual decline as we become lovers of things like power, money, fame etc. which if we put before God, leave us evermore empty. Therefore we must ask God for forgiveness and his Spirit that we may be able to do his will, which is the way to salvation.

Do not abandon prayer and start attending church, knowing that God loves you and wants you to be reconciled with him.
