CPA here. I just did the math. On my current $80,000 gross salary, I am actually paying MORE in taxes here in Texas than I would be paying for the equivalent Euro salary in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Ireland, Belgium, or the Netherlands. My take-home compensation would be higher in Europe.

And in those countries, I would receive 6 weeks paid vacation, unlimited sick time, and free healthcare (after tax). Whereas in the USA the standard vacation package is only 2 weeks, only 5 sick days, and health insurance is $750 a month in Texas for the cheapest option.
