He sends us signs all the time for those willing to listen
I had a similar awakening through trauma in my life and it was all planned by God. What I took as "hardship" at the time, turned out to be a blessing when I passed through it and put my faith in Jesus since it opened my eyes and lead to many miracles and blessings in my life (one of them being chainlink)
but the best insight and gift of all was my realization that God is real and He spiritually/physically intervened in my life
