It's true that the first bitcoin prototype contained poker sketches (btw Martti is the earliest bitcoin programmer alive who worked with Satoshi himself in 2009), but it's hard to conceive of bitcoin as a business venture like Craig states, especially considering all the anonymity, cypherpunk stuff etc. Bitcoin was essentially a black swan event. Nobody could suspect it would become any more successful than World Of Warcraft Gold or rise above 1 cent.

Except that the earliest bitcoin programmer alive (Martti Malmi) believes that bitcoin was a one-man project. There is actually the source code of the first version of bitcoin, it was coded by one man. Others joined later.
