Depends on the timescale you look at as well as the line-up. For example, a new console cycle began somewhat recently so there won't be a need to massively prepare for PS6 and XboxWhatever. On the other hand, new games come out and need to be bought and resold. Naturally, the reselling calls for profit and depending on the product inflation can be a significant or not-so-significant factor. The fact remains; big inventory means less needless expenditure of cash.
