What are interviewers looking for in jobs like Walmart, McDonald's, etc. and why can't I pass them?

I'm 22 and never had a job. I've failed interviews at Walmart, Taco Bell, Arby's, etc. I have no idea why I can't get a job. With one job interview at Walmart, me and the Assistant Manager that interviewed me got along great. We spent like 30 minutes talking about Bitcoin and altcoins. He said he'd call me back for an orientation with the night shift supervisor (I was applying for night shift stocking shelves) but he never called.

I had an interview at a Waffle House and things also went great. She said she'd call me in a few days. I was desperate at this point in my past where I was almost homeless and called them every day for 2 weeks.

How the fuck do people just walk in to these places and get a job? Why won't anyone hire me?
