were the pillars ever pilled out? Were all the bulk heads checked and cleared out? Probably not, than there is still gold to be won from the mine. The only issue becomes who has the death wish to do it. When the Silver Standard Mine (build by SSR Mining in the 1900s) near Hazelton was finishing up in the 1960s guys were payed double wage for danger pay to clear out the massive pillars in 4 stopes. Those were their highest casualty years too.
