It's actually fundamentally IMPERATIVE that the Fed and government does not let equity markets fall any further right now.

The concept of a bail-in hinges on the idea that the freshly minted equity in a bank or investment bank will replace your unsecured deposits that would have been lost, but since the bank is "too big too fail" will be bailed out.

If people don't have faith equities will only rise, this restructuring will be futile as former depositors immediately sell their equity to recoup losses.

If the USG thinks bail-ins are at all feasible, then they NEED to throw cash at the market right now. They cannot leave any room for people worried their restructured deposits might lose value if they consider bail-ins at all feasible. The other option is of course TARP 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO which... Yeah no.
