Learn to trade options form ex floor traders
https://www.youtube.com/user/tastytrade1/videos
I would start by selling a put on cheap stock you would own anyway.
you can start to learn with 5k
interactive brokers is what I use, watch out for fees some brokers charge $20 for an options trade which is horrible and prevents doing small trades to learn.
You interested in any markets? gold/silver etc? cos it's easier to do in market you monitor.

>How will you know whether the S&P dumped? Technical or percentage eyeball?
Martin Armstrong has a super computer that makes price predictions and it's really accurate. He has 6,000 years of economic data in there. I highly recommend you read his stuff. That's where I got the trade idea that went up 44X

>1.) What cycles are you look at to locate your buy and sell points?
I use this guys cycle work

He advised on 3 Trillion dollars...in the 1980's there is literally nothing better. My most profitable trades from from his computer generated buy and sell points.
>2.) How should I be spending my time moving forward - how much time studying, how much time trading, how MANY trades do you typically make in a day, week, month, year...
Just first put a trade on the easiest is to sell a put on something you would own anyway. That'll activate your brain. The trade in the picture has a max loss of $100 and you collect $15 premium.

I only go for multi week swings so a few dozen trades a year, everyone is different you'll find your own style.

I would turn this into a hobby all the links that I posted here and on the board I linked to have hours of high quality video. Watch the people on there and you will come up with trade ideas.

>I am 35 years old now, wish I had started doing this when I was 25. Not that I am trying to get rich over night, but I would like to make up for lost time by making the best decisions possible.

I am the same age as you. I would work on the psychology of this feeling 'make up for lost time' use a therapy technique like EMDR to find out why you have this feeling. It will effect your decision making otherwise. Just improve your situation that's all you can do.
