>accidentally apply for a sales representative job in the US as a Canadian citizen.
>get emailed
>say will withdraw application since i can't work in sales due to the NAFTA agreement
>guy asks me to call him
>call him
>tells me i can work 'legally' as a contractor as long as I have an IT number. (job is 100% commission)
>ask him how i'm supposed to enter the country legally as a CA citizen.
>he is unsure, conversation goes on.
>end conversation on a good note, he requests a follow up.

So i just googled "IT" number, turns out it is actually called "ITIN." I read the General ITIN Information on the IRS gov page:

Who needs an ITIN?
IRS issues ITINs to foreign nationals and others who have federal tax reporting or filing requirements and do not qualify for SSNs. A non-resident alien individual not eligible for a SSN who is required to file a U.S. tax return only to claim a refund of tax under the provisions of a U.S. tax treaty needs an ITIN.

Other examples of individuals who need ITINs include:
• A nonresident alien required to file a U.S. tax return
• A U.S. resident alien (based on days present in the United States) filing a U.S. tax return
• A dependent or spouse of a U.S. citizen/resident alien
• A dependent or spouse of a nonresident alien visa holder

SO IN OTHER WORDS: ITIN is a way for illegals to work in the US. The IRS are truly the jewest of the jews: they don't care if you are illegal as long as they can tax you. What should i do guys?
